Discovery Awards can be completed in a single day or spread out over a 5-hour project. They’re for young people ideally ages 10 to 14 looking to deepen their STEM knowledge and skills. Through hands-on activities, students develop communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, while also building resilience and motivation.
- 5 hours of work and can be done in a day
- Students work in groups to solve one or more STEM challenges.
- Select challenges from the CREST resource library.
- Students record and reflect on their work throughout, using a CREST Discovery passport, and communicate their findings through a group presentation.
- Projects are assessed by a teacher, carer, or another responsible adult. Awards are non-competitive, and any student who has sufficiently participated should be awarded.
Cost
- £3 (including VAT) per student in the UK*
- £7.50 per student internationally**
